The design of the Emerald beauty salon is based on a thorough study of its target audience, and their interactions with the salon personnel. In addition to receiving the beauty services, the users need dedicated spaces as waiting areas where most of the social interaction in the beauty salons occurs. Therefore, providing different services in the salon requires separated spaces with specific infrastructure, whereas the whole unit should simultaneously be regarded as a whole rather than a sum of partitioned cells.
The initial plan of the salon was geometrically challenging to a point that designers decided to relocate the existing walls to promote openness in new areas. For distinguishing different features of the space, designers used a specific and carefully designed environmental graphic language to not only guide the customers but also create an aesthetically pleasing layer to the surfaces. Moreover, each section, depending on the type of service it hosts, manifests unique formal features to promote specific usage and offer extreme comfort to both the customer and the salon crew.
