Architectural Promenade

The subject of this volume from the NashaNevesht collection – the third volume, which is ahead of the first and second volumes in publication – is the theory/technique of the architectural promenade. A theory that has been the source of some of Nesha’s architectural projects. The authors tried to reread the lessons learned from these projects and, of course, many projects of other architects, to explore and explain the intellectual foundations of the architectural idea.

Flanerie is a behavior related to the sense of the environment. Sensation in this verb is a mediator for knowledge and awareness and finally perception. When you loiter in the street, you “hear” people and review their actions in the city environment. You understand their “state” and in this way, you complete your sense of presence by understanding other people’s mood. When you walk in the city, you see and review the pictures of the city. These images are generally an arrangement of the architectural skin of the city, each of which tells the story of the time and the quality of the will to build it. The details of the facade are different from building to building, and you tell your own story of the city, from the role of each building. This story is the narration of “now” and the result of the perception of the present moment.

The book’s illustrations try to go beyond the conventional expression of architectural graphics and talk about architecture with a language enriched by graphics in its broadest sense. A language whose vocabulary is not necessarily limited to the vocabulary of architectural presentation. It is free to roam in the wide field of visual communication and speak with any tone it wants. In other words, the image is indebted to the text and not to the visual tradition of architectural expression and presentation.
