1st National Conference on women, architecture, and city

Shadi Azizi and Hamidreza Mousavi, as the scientific secretary and members of the steering committee of the conference, as well as the speakers of the gender and space panel and the women and profession panel, participated in the organization of “Women, Architecture, and the City” conference.

Women, Architecture, and the City” conference is a platform for the challenge between architects, urban planners, sociologists, and experts in the field of space and gender, as well as the analysis of the relationship between male and female architects and society. This conference has invited professional architects, urban planners, and sociologists from Iran and other countries around the world with years of experience in this field, to create a solution and examine the problems and issues in this field with an all-round discussion about the mentioned topic. Therefore, it has been tried to get all the reputable experts in the fields of architecture, urban planning, and sociology and human geography, in the form of panels on gender, space, profession, and women (press, universities, consulting engineers and offices).

کنفرانس” معماری، زن و شهر”، به عنوان بستری برای چالش ميان معماران، شهرسازان، جامعه شناسان و صاحب نظران در عرصه فضا و جنسيت و همچنين تحليل مناسبات زنان و مردان معمار با جامعه، از معماران، شهرسازان و جامعه شناسان معتبر ملی و بين المللی اين عرصه دعوت به عمل آورده است تا با گفتمانی همه جانبه پيرامون موضوع مذكور، به ايجاد راهكار و بررسی مشكلات و مسائل موجود در اين زمينه بپردازد، از اين رو سعي شده است از همه صاحب‌نظران معتبر در عرصه معماری، شهرسازی، جامعه شناسي و جغرافيای انسانی، در قالب پنل های جنسيت و فضا و حرفه و زن (مطبوعات، دانشگاه‌ها و مهندسين مشاور و ادارات) استفاده گردد.

We are happy to announce that the closing session for “Fatatoo Forest Rehabilitation Project” basically aimed to consolidate the buffer zone, and develop an eco-tourism destination, was successfully held on July 7th. The project manager and team members as well as other members of NESHA from both architecture and Urban Planning Department took part in this friendly yet inspiring gathering; and together created the chance to take a thorough look back at the primary goals and objectives, impediments and achievements, and all in all, the journey of delivering the project.

Ms. Shadi Azizi, PhD. after nearly 18 years of dedicated activity in the field of education and research in architecture as a university Faculty Member and Assistant Professor and simultaneously working in the field of Urban Design and Architecture since the co-foundation of NESHA in 2001, now has a serious critiques of the quiddity and function of schools of Architecture in Iran. a video summary of her speech has been published on the ETOOOD website and soon, the full video will be published on NESHA’s website and its official Instagram page and also Dr. Azizi’s official Instagram page.

The forth “Sustainable Building” convention. November 25th to 27th, 2019 Ali Naghavi Namini talked about the more interior layers of sustainability in the discussion panel of this convention. He criticized the cumbersome regulation in the field of construction using a few projects designed and built by NESHA and the concept of “Receptive Regulations”. The discussed research in this convention was conducted in collaboration with Asal Moradi.

Iran Un-Built Symposium

The history of Architecture is full of designs that were never built. The seventh “Triangle” event is focused on such projects that are well-known for various reasons. Ali Naghavi Namini introduced one of the most important examples: OMA project for the International Commerce Center of Iran in the Iran Mall complex. Naghavi, the plan manager, spoke of the details of the project, the creativity of the design team in spite of various restrictions, and the causes of not implementing the design.

NESHA Project “Tehran Plain’s Pulse of Life” wins the second place for the urban regeneration of an urban corridor, the ground level of Tehran-Tabriz Railway Tunnel. Based on the characteristics of the context, activity pulses have been designed inside and outside of the axis: – Organizational and local development institutions pulses – Local pulses (Pocket Parks, ethnic theme parks, events arena) – Urban pulses (Zarbahan bridge, events hotspots, Railway Café, workshop houses, food exhibition, pharmaceutical research and development hub) – Regional pulses (Kan leisure hub, green research and development hub, iron market)

In this Amirkabir TEDx talk, Shadi Azizi PhD. spoke about the role of public transportation and pedestrian paths of the historic center of Tehran in the transformation of demographic classification of Tehran Bazaar.
